MP3 Player installed - how does it look and work?

I have read conflicting bits. Is the MP3 player option just an aux addon? I talked to a local dealer how thought that the extra Aux was added so you can plug in your MP3 player. I was thinking the mp3 option is when they replaced the current stereo with one that will play cd and mp3 formated disk. Similar to the radio units you can purchase from Best Buy. They provide the digital information streamed across the display...things like this.

Anyone have a picture of this installed and/or could inlighten me on how this works?
