My RTL (without NAV) has an aux button on the radio. Does anyone know how to hook up your own aux jack? It seems that the radio supports this feature but Honda only provided a jack with the NAV model. I have to think it would be easy if you knew which pins on which connector were the right ones. Does anyone have a factory electrical manual?

I purchased the factory manual. There are two different head units, one for the nav and one for the others. Only the nav unit has the ability to add a aux input. Your only options are to disconnect the CD player and use that input, hense the 'CD/Aux' button. I am stuck also, why pay 2k for an aux input. The nav is worthless to me, the mrs always tells me where to go!!

I don't think you have to disconnect the cd player add an aux input, if it's the same as in my other honda/acura cars, the aux/cd button will toggle three ways -- cd, aux, off. I'm going to defer to anyone who has already installed an aux adapter -- please chime in!

Please allow me to clarify... The RL audio system utilizes a system called 'GA-Net Bus' This system is detailed on pg 23-5 (Audio System) section of the factory manual. The problem is as stated in the manual '.....Because the entire bus is "daisy chained" between components any open or short in the GA Net bus harness will cause any or all of these functions to become inoperative. Naturally the addition of any audio accessory must maintain the continuity of the GA-Net bus by installing the "Y" cable included with the accessory kit.' The Y cable spoken of is part of the XM or the MP3 kits, they are not available seperately. If that Y cable was used, that still would not provide a input jack that would not disturb the system. Guess that is why no one has come up with a kit yet. If it was as easy as just connecting a couple wires to an existing connector there would be quite a selection for us RL owners to pick from. Looking at the design of the head unit that is used with Nav that includes the aux input, it has an additional 6 pin connector on the head unit (ref connector D) that is not tied into the GA-Bus. As I stated before, all of us, myself included will have to wait for a viable aftermarket kit, then pay dearly for it.

This was one of the reasons I purchased the manual... not what I wanted to hear... :(

There is a simple $99 adapter that enables the aux input. I found the company in a post on this site!

Search for the Ipod threads.

So, where did you get your adapter? I checked the neoaudio site and don't see it, I did a google search and found a blitzsafe HON/M-LINK1V.2, is that it? Have you actually installed it and verified that it works? Any advice on the installation?

From www.mp3yourcar.com :

Tom,

The ipod piece does not work on the Ridgeline, for whatever reason, it wont properly link up. The Ridgeline may have a different protocol or software that’s causing this. We have tested it with a few systems and it doesn’t work. So I would go with the auxilliary piece.

The piece I have is an AUX piece. It wont give you’re the full controls or charging (those are the things that aren’t working on the dension piece) BUT it will most importantly give you your iPod audio. The Ridgleine does not want to interface with stereo controls but the audio portion is not affected. So for now, it’s the only solution.

The auxillary piece we have is $99.99, and I have many customers using this solution right now.

The adapter is not currently on the website so please call me at 619-702-7030 ext 113 to place this order for you.

I am going to order this today - I will post an install after I get it!

That's interesting because the same place told me several months ago that the adapter works with the ipod but I passed it up because the prices was over $200! Now I see they've found some problems with it. Well, an audio connection that doesn't recharge the ipod is a possible solution, but it sure would be nice to use it as a recharger, too. I guess I could make do since I have a car charger (it plugs into the bottom of the ipod) and I would guess that the $100 "aux piece" is simply an audio cable/adapter that plugs into the top of the ipod (is this right?). I still think that for me without some 'extra' features (controlling the ipod would be the best, recharging while playing would be cool) it's not worth $100. I'll stick with my iTrip for now.

HOWEVER -- if the "aux piece" that you ordered works with the ipod as well as letting the cd player work, then the previous post is wrong about not being able to use both at the same time. Please let us know how it works when you get it installed. Thanks.

If all anybody is trying to do is get an MP3 player connected into works...

I would recommend this. I have a device I bought at Fry's for $30 that plugs into either my MP3 player or PC and then transmits on a selectable range of FM frequencies which the radio picks up.

All the junk I hide in the center console - Beats drilling and disassembly.

I think they want full control of their Ipod from the steering mounted controls.

The Aux button would be for the optional MP3 player avilable from Honda, but at $750 Cdn it's not worth the money to me.
