#3 The console is sufficiently ventilated. This means do not put in anywhere that heat can build up.
#4 Ensure there is plenty of space around the ventilation for the fan and that the fan itself is not full of dust.
If the console still fails then you will need to repair it. The reason for this failure is likely to be overheating of the GPU.
There are two reasons for this.
#5 The x-clamps holding the heatsink in place are allowing it to come loose, resulting in the console overheating.
#6 The heatsink compound has come away or there is not enough on the heatsink, possibly as a result of the heatsink moving.
The solution is to replace the x-clamps and to ensure the kit you get with new clamps has new heatsink compound. When you replace the x-clamps remove the old compound first completely. the compound helps to conduct the heat away from the GPU onto the heatsink and is vital there is enough.
Once you have done this you will find you no longer have the xbox 360 three red lights any more and that your console will work properly without fear of it failing again.
