The trays, by the way, hold standard 8.5 x 11 inch letter size sheets. You can add the ability to print on legal size, 8.5 x 14, with an optional universal tray that holds 250 sheets. It can print on envelopes, labels, transparencies and other types of specialty papers such as business cards. If you plan to print a lot on envelopes, you may want to get the optional envelope feeder which will raise your capacity from 10 to 75.
Wireless or wired connectivity is simple with the 4050tn. It comes with Ethernet which works with many different operating systems including Apple, Unix and PC. With the infrared adapter, you can connect wirelessly and print from any device that is infrared capable such as a PDA or laptop.
Though this is not a new model of HP black and white printer, it has maintained its value over the time since it was first brought onto the market. It is available refurbished from many different sources and at a very economic price. For further savings, you can choose the higher volume version of the toner cartridge and your cost per page printed will go down.
Overall, this HP LaserJet 4050tn ink and toner is a smart choice for the workgroup that needs high output and fast printing. Considering the features offered, it is well worth the price. The only real downside is that it cannot be used for duplex printing. But if this is not a huge portion of your printing needs, it probably is not all that important.
