Choosing a Water Filtration System: Where to start?
So you think you might want to get a water filter system for your home or office, to get rid of contamination or poor water quality, but you don’t have a clue where to start?
Water filters come in a vast array of styles and specifications, from really simple pitchers costing very little or a counter top, faucet mount unit which can be very easy to install. These don’t usually need any special tools and are relatively cheap to install.
Then there are the top of the range whole house systems, which pass the water through about 14 stages of filtration and can cost a couple of thousand dollars.
There are numerous versions available from many suppliers, there are models suitable for most people’s needs and budgets.
The benefit of counter top models is that they are very easy to install, but if you don’t like the thought of seeing your water filter, then an under sink model would be better and still quite straight forward to install.
If you need more than just one outlet with filtered water, then a full house system will be what you want, they do cost more but are much more adaptable than the more basic units, they will have high flow rates and possibly numerous upgrade options.
Some water filter systems also come with adapters for refrigerators or ice makers, although these can also be purchased as separate units if required.
So as you probably now realise, depending on your individual supply quality, it could certainly be worth considering a water filtration unit. Do you want to get rid of contamination and ensure that you have good tasting, fresh water that may even lead to health benefits for your family.
