Wireless technology is more rapid these days with the goal moving towards an absolute wireless connection. For years now wireless phones have been a big hit, they are more stylish and efficient with unprecedented signal strength and robust features that would make any geek get excited. Combined with new phone technologies to provide low cost long distance service to the masses, wireless phones are the ultimate domestic phone appliance. A wireless VoIP phone is the pinnacle of connectivity at the bleeding heart of the technological revolution.
Not one single wire
By simply plugging the wireless VoIP phone base into the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) adapter, and you’re ready to go. There are no settings to be changed and you don’t have to mess around with confusing wiring. As soon as you’re plugged in, you’re ready to get going. In fact, you can use any wireless phone with VoIP. It’s such a great combination of mobility with the wireless phone and savings with the cheap cost of VoIP for as low as $25 a month with Vonage, the most popular VoIP service provider. However, there are many other providers, including Comcast that delivers it with their very own cable Internet service.
The wireless VoIP phone may not provide you with enough mobility, if this is the case then you may want to consider going with a VoIP cell phone. Rather, you’ll simply end up installing some software onto your existing cell phone to enable VoIP communications. Make sure that you have an unlimited data plan with your cell phone, because your cell phone needs to have an active Internet connection for VoIP to function. This option makes the most sense for users traveling abroad where the $5 – $25 data plan is but a fraction of what you’d end up paying in roaming charges (which would be quite hefty for trips abroad).
Of course, a wireless VoIP phone still requires an active broadband Internet connection. VoIP works by transmitting the voice data digitally over the Internet instead of the phone line, giving you greater flexibility on a lower cost platform. Because it’s so much cheaper for the companies to operate, those savings are passed onto you, the consumer, and the difference is readily apparent in the cheap price of VoIP, as low as $25 for the subscription services. While you can install VoIP software on your cell phone, that option is really only useful for folks traveling. If you’re making a domestic call, it’s cheaper just to use your minutes.
