The reasons for settling on a particular model of camera are always diverse. A large number of people consider size and portability. When compared with other cameras in this category or range the Nikon D40 is very compact and has good optical image resolution. The lens is interchangeable so shots are never out of focus and it has a 6.1 mega pixels sensor. Considering all the functions that are put into it; this is one of the lightest cameras. The disadvantage of the Nikon D40 is that it can only auto focus with the AF-I and the AF-S lens and with the other types you have to focus manully. So this means that you cannot make use of the entire available lens but only some of them.
The D40 also has programmable auto ISO, delayed shatter and in camera retouching. For the moments when you cannot get near the things that you want to take, for example as in sporting events you can consider buying the Nikon 18-200mm VR lens. It is designed to have extra zoom range.
Most images that are taken when the lens is totally zoomed out and in conditions of low light are sometimes blurred. The D40 has VR technology to make the images clearer. This is a good personal camera as it is small and allows you to take some of the best pictures. Operation is easy because of the simple way the function buttons have been laid out. If you are considering taking up photography as a profession but don’t cant afford a good camera, the Nikon D40 will give you a good start.
