You kitchen appliances are amazing inventions. They save you a lot of time and work. Life is easier with them around. Kitchen appliances put the world within reach of your finger tips. However, there are many things that these appliances are not designed to do. Here are things that should never be done in the home.
There is probably an electric hand mixer in your kitchen. These things are great for making cakes and mixing. However, they should not be used for certain recipes. Those recipes include mud pies and paint mixing. In most cases, you will not see such things inside your kitchen. However, you may have small children in your household. When it comes to kids, almost anything can happen. Adult supervision is of the utmost importance.
Do you like your microwave oven? They are a good way to heat up and defrost many food items. You probably do not know how these modern marvels work. If you are interested in their inner workings, it is best to research them online. You can also travel to your public library for information. Do not take these units apart. The insides can contain hazards. One of these hazards is a high voltage transformer. High voltage means high chance for electric shock. There is also radioactive components. When you hear the word radioactive, it should set off an inner alarm. Use microwave ovens for food. Do not use them for vocational or entertainment purposes.
You may have a lovely toaster in your kitchen. Many people do. These handy appliances will toast bread, muffins, and special pastries. From time to time, they may become jammed. A piece of bread or muffin may become lodged in them. What do you do? At first glance, you may wish to reach inside and fix it. That is not your first move. Do not grab the butter knife either. That can give you a serious shock. Unplug the toaster. That should always be your first move. It seems elementary. Yet, people still get injured this way, every year.
Do you have a cordless handheld vacuum? These are great for cleaning up spills. Make sure that the spills do not contain liquids. This may also seem elementary. However, things like this have been known to happen.
One more thing about mixers. Suppose you have a lovely Kitchen Aid hand mixer. These units will not work well if they are submersed in water. Most people are aware of this. However, it still happens. You might have very good shock saver outlets in your kitchen. Use the red button to test them. Do not test them with a wet mixer.

Kitchen appliances serve many purposes in the modern kitchens. There are some things that they cannot do. Keep your appliances and your family safe. Always unplug things when not in use. Keep small children away from the appliances.
