A Digital slr camera differs from a normal digital camera in a number of interesting ways. It is a digital camera that enables the user to see the picture exactly as it is without being altered by any digital components inside the camera.
This is good for the picture quality as it has no “preservatives” that are added by too many Electronic Components. Keep this in mind, when you use a normal digital camera the image you see through the lens is not the original one as it becomes digitally generated so it can be projected on the viewfinder i.e. the lens captures the image and sends it to your eyepiece or LCD through “wires” fitted inside the camera while in the case of digital SLR cameras the image is redirected to the viewfinder using the lens and other reflective components that are not electrical at all e.g. prisms.
I have over simplified the explanation but this is how it works essentially. Based on this little I have shared you can now try to find best digital slr cameras.
Here is how it works, it all starts by the light entering the camera through the lens. The mirror picks up the light and sends it through the condenser lens to the 5-sided prism (pentaprism) and then to the user’s eye. So when the user decides to take a shotthe mirror will move out of the way to allow the light to land on an image sensor that is behind the mirror.
After all that I hope you can now understand what I meant by saying that you see the actual image in the viewfinder without and changes or alterations.
Now let me get a bit deeper, I know what I just said above but the reality is that the image you see is rarely 100%. This means you need to check the specs of the camera i.e. how much coverage it has and its brightness. the best possible image coverage is 95% but your naked eye can never really see the difference no matter how hard you look.
If feel like you are not ready to use a fully manual camera, don’t worry yourself too much, you will find some automatic settings with almost all DSLRs.
