Glamour And Glitz In One Sweet Package : The 2011 Jaguar XJ
The Jaguar XJ was officially launched in 1968 and served as the British car maker’s flagship auto. The XJ for 2011 is completely different than the XJ of yesteryear; this luxury sports sedan has been invigorated with new life and as a result its contemporary, sleek, refined after a detailed makeover on the inside and out. Jaguar is entering a new era with a car that is a lot sportier, better looking and ultra contemporary. The front grille is still distinct and certainly impressive but the body is graceful and almost cat-like. The XJ is a luxury sedan and goes head to head with top of the line luxury autos including the Mercedes S-Class, the Mercedes CLS class, the 7 series from BMW and the LS460 from Lexus.
Two body styles are available for this auto; regular and long wheelbase. There are three trim levels for both; XJ, XJ Supercharged and XK Supersport. The XJ model comes with an eight cylinder engine with a total output of 385 horsepower and 380 lb feet of torque. The XJ model comes with a 5.0 Liter eight cylinder for 470 hp. The top of the line XJ Supersport has a V8 that pumps out 510 hp and can propel from zero to sixty in just 4.7 seconds. The body is manufactured out of aluminum which keeps the car lightweight; the XJ weighs in at 4,045 pounds, lighter than the Mini Cooper. The trunk space is at 15.2 cubic feet.
The interior is scrumptious with leather appointed seating and leather upholstered door panels. There is a flat screen that provides navigation info, speedometer info and gas levels. The standard audio system puts out a massive 600 watts of premium sound. There is the option to upgrade to a 20 speaker audio system produced by Bowers & Wilkens with an incredible 1200 watts of sound. The cabin stays very quiet at high speeds and is very well insulated against outdoors noise. Handling is excellent and the XJ handles curves and twists like a dream.
As you would expect from such a world class car, a plethora of safety features have been included by Jaguar designers. Standard safety features include an ABS brake system and front and side air bags. Active head restraints protect the neck and head area during impact and a warning system alerts you when there is another car in your blind spot.
The Jaguar offers XJ unparalelled style, glamour, a lot of power and an interior fit for royalty. It’s also priced lower than other competitors in its class. For all new buyers, Jaguar will provide all new owners of 2011 model Jags with free maintenance service for the first 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever comes first. This means you will only have to pay for the fuel and tires. The base price for the 2011 XJ is approximately $88k, which may seem steep but it’s competitive for its class. If you want a luxury car that is glitzy, glamorous and can outperform them all then the XJ might just be the perfect ride for you.
