Linear Actuator advice?
I want to use a Linear Actuator on an old car of mine to work the hidden headlight covers.
If I bought an actuator with a 6″ stroke is there any way I would be able to limit the movement? Say if at 5.25″ its perfect, can I stop the actuator there?
This has all got to be possible at the flick of the headlamp switch and then the actuator must return to its original position when the switch is turned off.

Linear actuators do not work like speakers. They use a motor to drive a feedscrew. Use a microswitch to limit the travel, cutting off the power when the limit is reached. You can buy actuators that already include limit switches, and save some engineering hassle.
