Solar Power House – Why You are Missing Out if You are Still Not Using Thin Film Solar Panels
If you want to build a solar power house, of course you want to have the best power for a reasonable price. While once it was expensive to construct your house with solar power, today with new technology it is becoming less costly and very effective. One new product added to the market for solar homes has been the thin film solar panels, making it extremely easy to get solar power for cheap.
These new thin film pv solar panels now being used in solar power for home, are actually layered stacks that are as thin as paper. This new technology can be seen in calculators that are solar powered and the thin film they use. Thin panels aren’t baked the way panels made with silicon are, the solar panel films are made on unique rolling machines much like a machine for printing.
Using these new flexible solar panels has many great benefits for a solar power house. They are not heavy and they are easy to use on various types of materials. They are pleasing to the eye, and there are no huge and unsightly panels on the roof-top to concern you. A key benefit is that these thin film solar cells are economical and provide great efficiency. The installation of these thin-film solar panels for conversion to solar power homes is definitely a cost effective idea.
While the technology behind these new thin panels is essentially the same, some differences exist in the manufacturing process. Silicon is used in the layers of wafer solar cells, but for these new thin cells, either copper indium gallium diselenide or cadmium telluride is put between the layers. The new thin panels are also manufactured in a different way. These panels are made on huge presses similar to printing presses using aluminum foil, a process that saves money.
Solar panels made of thin film designed for a solar power house have been showcased on CNN and even called the “Invention of the Year” by Time Magazine. The benefits surrounding these panels definitely make them an invention that is worthy to be given this title. In addition solar power is finally going to be as affordable as other forms of energy, and these new thin film solar panels are definitely a technological leap forward that will revolutionize solar energy as we know it.
