Do you know TurboTax Online offers a free iphone app for tracking your federal tax refund status? I have to admit I love technology when it comes to tracking my tax refund. I don’t have to guess anymore because I know when my tax refund will be deposited.
If you have ever tracked a package by FedEx or UPS, then you already know how to track something. Hopefully you chose to efile your income tax return and also chose the option of direct deposit for the absolute quickest way possible to receive your federal tax refund.
Federal Tax Refund Process
It takes 24 to 48 hours for the IRS to receive and accept your tax return because they have to confirm all of your personal information is correct. Once they have confirmed the information to be correct, then your tax refund will be put into the IRS payment timetable. The IRS sends refunds in big batches on Fridays.
You may have your tax refund in as little as eight days if you efiled on Wednesday by 11:00 a.m. and if your tax return was accepted within 24 hours, then you could potentially have your tax refund on the following Friday by direct deposit. If you chose to receive a check, then it takes a week or so longer to receive.
