Tank Vs Tankless, Why Buy A Tankless Hot Water Heater?
Before you jump in let’s have a look at the argument between tank and tankless water heaters and why to buy a tankless water heater.
Consider how much your water heating costs, is this mainly keeping a large tank load of water up to a preset temperature? No matter how good the tank’s jacket is, it will still drop temperature over time and the heating cycle will start again. Costly?… I would think so! A huge waste or a resource?… That’s a given!

A tankless water heater’s operational life is also higher than a tank water heater. Most tankless water heaters will give you at least 20 years or more before they need replacing and this could be well over double what a tank heater provides, depending on water quality and how well it is maintained.

If you are tight for space, tankless water heaters have significant advantages over large tank systems. They are wall mounted, small, light weight, can be fitted both inside or outside and some can even be flush mounted between studs. With gas tankless water heaters, many offer venting choices to suit different situations and the majority of tankless water heaters offer a wide choice of options, installation accessories and safety systems.
Tankless water heaters offer incredible flexibility with applications. They can be used in boats, mobile homes and RV’s, radiant heating systems, for boosting solar heating in cloudy weather and when interlinked with additional tankless heaters, can provide huge volumes of hot water and load sharing capabilities suitable for appartment complexes and small, medium, even large commercial situations, like restaurants and gyms.
Consider energy efficiency, the tank water heaters are a lowly 40% to 60% energy efficient, the remainder of the energy is wasted either through the walls of the tank or up the flue. Tankless water heaters are 80% – 95% for gas and up to 99% efficient for electricity. You will also save up to 15%-20% on your energy bill with the tankless water heaters, simply because there is no stored water heat loss.
Tankless water heaters, when sized correctly, will provide for all your domestic hot water needs for a long time.
